“BLOOD BORNE RISKS FOR EMERGENCY PERSONNEL“
 
Lecture will be given by Victor Araya, MD, FACG, AGAF, Chairman, Hepatology Division and Medical Director, Liver Transplant Program at the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia. Currently the Director of the Center for Liver Disease Clinical Trials Unit at Einstein, Dr. Araya is the principal investigator in several ongoing clinical trials involving pre- and post-transplant viral hepatitis, hepatic encephalopathy and acute liver failure. Dr. Araya resides in Maple Glen with his wife and three children.
Program will discuss risks and safety precautions for emergency responders to incidents where blood and bodily fluids are present. He will also discuss the diseases associated with such dangers especially Hepatitis B and C. This will include symptoms, tests, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing concerns for this disease. Prevention of this disease will be stressed. Lecture is sponsored by Gilead Sciences who is providing refreshments.
